About Hostel

Shri Chandrashekhar Patil Memorial Hostel was built for the accommodation of boys persuing Medical course at M. R. Medical College, Gulbarga. The hostel is located in a lush green surrounding on Sedam Road, main gate facing towards north. The hostel is situated at a point which is within walkable distance and mid-way between M. R. Medical College and Basaveshwar Hospital, which makes it convenient for students to attend classes at Medical college and Hospital posting at Basaveshwar Hospital.

For the construction of this Hostel, 15 acres of land was donated by Late Shri Chadrashekhar Patil, Mahagaon, the most respected political icon of Hyderabad-Karnataka area, who was also MLA in the erstwhile state of Mysore. In this vast space three massive black stone masonary blocks (A, B, C) are build. There are 217 rooms with all facilities, which comfortably accommodate about 450 students. A well furnished dinning cum recreation block building is situated in the vicinity of these three blocks. A, B block buildings and dinning hall cum-recreation building was inaugurated on 21st Oct, 1969 by Shri S. Chandrashekhar, then Union Minister of State for Health and Family Planning, Govt. of India. Later 'C' block foundation was laid on 7-11-1972 by Sri Mahadevappa Rampure, Founder President of Hyderabad-Karnataka Education Society, Gulbarga, and the building was inaugurated by Sri Devaraj Urs, the then Chief Minister, Govt. of Mysore on 12-08-1975. Entire area of this hostel is guarded by high rise compound wall.

H.K.E. Society Management is always having concern for Physical and Cultural activities of the young budding doctors. The hostel campus is provided with indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Cricket, Hockey, and Football grounds are regularly utilized to conduct in-house and inter collegiate matches. Volleyball and Basketball courts are also provided. A well equipped Gym with most modern gadgets is a pride passion of the hostel. Table-tennis, Chess, Carrom form the indoor game facilities. The recreation block also provides a reading room with many national dailies and magazines. Computer with internet facility is provided. Television with cable connection infuses freshness to the tried minds of the students.

Festivals are part of our culture. Irrespective of cast and creed, all the festivals are observed. Especially Ganesh Chathurthi festival is not only enjoyed by the hostilities, but also by public of Gulbarga. Annual sports meet and funfare is a event no student forgets in his life.

The hostel buildings, Play Grounds, Dinning Hall and Recreation rooms are meticulously looked after by devoted and sincere staff.

These blocks of black stones create an aura of a relic and convey an underlying spirit waiting to germinate. No matter where these inmates move and live after their studies, memories of CPM hostel always travel with them.
